Johanna started her marketing career 20 years ago at Booth Lockett Makin (now Arena Media) in Bristol where she worked as a media planner | buyer on a range of client accounts including Decleor, Ford Dealerships, Moneygram International, S4C and Thomas Cook.
Since then she has worked across a variety of public and private sectors in particular retail, film, television, digital media, cultural and creative services, and has developed marketing & business development campaigns for South West Screen (now Creative England), House of Fraser; Bristol’s Museums, Galleries & Archives Service, and Lloyds Bank.
In 2009 Johanna relocated to Manchester and continued to work for Creative England in the role of Strategic Partnerships & Marketing Manager – her team took the lead in delivering programmes of support for people working in the creative industries in the UK and international marketplace, worth over £5million and funded by The Department of Culture Media & Sport, working with public and private sector partners, from Local Enterprise Partnerships to global brands such as The Walt Disney Company and NHS England.
Highly focused on achieving results, Johanna is a responsive and versatile communications and business development consultant. With considerable experience in international trade, public relations, marketing strategy, brand management, promotions and event management, sponsorship and fundraising, she has a proven track record for working with clients to develop and implement strategic campaigns that integrate with wider business objectives.
However, whilst most people have hobbies, Johanna has parallel careers and she has always worked in a freelance capacity alongside her ‘day’ job(s). Her personal interest in the fashion industry led her to train as a personal shopper with organisations including House of Fraser. This love of fashion also inspired her to take a course in visual merchandising and buying at London School of Fashion.
In 2010 Johanna consolidated her various business interests and established Ragtrade Productions offering fashion PR, styling and personal shopping services. She is also now the owner of a successful lingerie shop in Hale village in Cheshire.
Johanna holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and is a member of the Manchester Publicity Association and was a founding member of the Executive Board for Northern Soho, a North West networking organisation, which aims to collaborate, share and raise awareness of the north as a creative hub.
Johanna lives in Bowdon with her partner of 20+ years, and in her spare time she is an active dancer, having previously taught beginner and intermediate classes at Elmgrove LeRoc in Bristol, a well as an enthusiastic martial artist – Johanna is a member of the British Kung Fu Association and recently attained purple belt status. She is proud to part of the strong and diverse board of trustees that helps govern the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation (DMSF).
