On Wednesday 4 March, Moss Side Leisure Centre was taken over by schools and employers from across the North West, all keen to inspire our 14-16 year old students and raise their career aspirations.

Throughout the day, students enjoyed a huge variety of different career experiences, from surveying and construction, to healthcare and hair & make-up for film, TV and theatre.

One exhibitor who found it particular useful was Jon Bingham, Regional Recruiter at Valorum Care. He said: “I’m currently working to raise awareness of what the care industry is, what we do, and most importantly how to make it a more attractive sector to work in, so I found it really useful to attend ‘Building the Future’ and to be part of something bigger.

Valorum Care Group is a leading care provider that delivers bespoke care and support services nationwide. Jon continues: “I think the Healthcare industry in general could do much more to raise awareness so to have the opportunity to speak to young people who are considering a career in care was great.”

Diane Modahl, CEO and co-founder of DMSF, said: “I’m extremely proud to be associated with this organisation and the success we all achieved at our second ‘Building the Future’ event. Early feedback tells us that FIVE young people are now following career pathways due to the opportunity they had at BTF.”

“Thank you to all our partners and supporters, for helping us to provide a platform for young people to achieve amazing things. We’re keen to build on this success and we’ve already started planning Building the Future 2021!”
