It’s great news that DMSF has been selected as one of the four official charity partners of the CEO Sleepout.  This level of support couldn’t come at a more crucial time for our charity.  Although DMSF Chair John Russell and I are under no illusions that by sleeping out for one night goes anywhere close to a real-life experience of someone who is homeless or rough sleeping, I wanted to use this opportunity to highlight the seriousness of the issue.

We have a reputation in Greater Manchester for helping each other out and this is a perfect opportunity to do so. Your support will make such a big difference to many lives, please support us here, thank you.

CEO Sleepout is challenging bosses from companies across Manchester to take part in its next event held in the city, and our very own Diane Modahl and John Russell will be taking part.

On 22 March 2021 at Emirates Old Trafford business leaders will give up their warm beds to literally ‘sleep out’ in a bid to raise money for local charities fighting to tackle homelessness and poverty. Please note that this is a **new date** due to the ongoing lockdown restrictions, and to ensure we can keep all of you safe.

CEO Sleepout has partnered with the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation, to bring together senior level executives and corporation owners from the local business community to spend the night under the stars, experiencing a little of what those without homes go through every single night.

Last year, the CEO Sleepout helped raise funds for homeless and social need projects. This year the event hopes to raise up to £100,000 and 75% of the funds raised by our participants will be donated to the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation, for its charitable work and community projects.

CEO Sleepout’s Chief Executive, Bianca Robinson, comments. “Although it’s only for one night, and doesn’t come close to what homeless people experience night after night, CEO Sleepout is intended to raise awareness and lots of money to fight homelessness locally and nationally, but also to remind all of us in business that we have the power to make a stand against inequality.”

“We are very grateful for the many businesspeople who have taken part in our fundraising events across the country and want to challenge the Manchester business community to show their generosity and get involved.

“We’re inviting CEOs, senior level staff and their teams from across Manchester to take part in what is sure to be a memorable and rewarding night.”

If you are would like to take part in the CEO Sleepout and help raise money for DMSF visit https://ceosleepoutuk.com.

The event will be limited to 50 participants initially, with measures in place to keep participants safe.

Since the charity was founded in 2013, CEO Sleepout events have been held at venues across the country, including at Wembley Stadium, St James’ Park Newcastle, Old Trafford cricket ground, The Alnwick Garden and Lord’s Cricket Ground. Its events have raised more than £2.7 million to date.

I’m looking forward to the humbling experience of giving up my home comforts for one-night to raise funds that I believe will make a real difference. I appreciate that one night’s sleepout doesn’t do justice to the difficulties of homelessness in the city, but the point is to raise awareness and that’s what I hope to do.
