Our response to COVID19 will define a generation. Please donate and help us to support the most vulnerable children and young people in our care so they can cope with today and prepare for tomorrow.
DMSF have long understood and promoted character development and positive behaviour habits as essential skills for life, and whilst these skills are embedded throughout our programmes it is crucial that we continue to provide specific provisions and opportunities, tailored to young people facing disadvantage.
As we enter a period of considerable difficulty it is even more important than ever for us to stay together and support those most in need; our young people have already told us that being in isolation because of the coronavirus is impacting on their mental health.
For the next few months, DMSF will focus its support around giving to those in the most critical need and supporting young people’s mental health during periods of disruption is central to this.
There is much that DMSF can do to support the wellbeing of those in our care including children and young people who may already be vulnerable or suffering from mental health difficulties, but we need YOUR HELP.
We’re working hard with our partners and the local community to coordinate support for our young people; this includes access to remote training sessions, live streaming initiatives, 1:1 counselling over the phone and online, an online mentoring service and providing nutrition to the young people on our programmes via our ‘Fit & Fed’ campaign. As part of our response to the current coronavirus emergency, we have also launched a Young Person Relief Fund to help us achieve the above.
We want to do all we can and with your help, we can weather this situation together. It’s a daunting time, and cash will be in short supply, but please do something — no matter how small.
Every penny that you give will go straight to initiatives that support those families most in need in our community.
We’re committed to being there for our young people, no matter what’s happening in the world.
