With the New Year we welcome Jack Murphy, Lisa Morton and Abid Hussain as our newest recruits to the DMSF board.
Jack Murphy – Youth Community Engagement
Jack has had a varied career which has seen him transition from a Solicitor of 8 years’ experience to an Inspector within Greater Manchester Police. In his current role, Jack has worked in many different Neighbourhood settings within the City of Manchester and had regular interaction with young people, local services and community leaders. Jack is therefore uniquely placed to be able to understand and tackle the issues and challenges facing young people within Greater Manchester.
Jack has always been passionate about young people and their opportunities and is keen to use his experience and understanding to provide advice to DMSF on youth community engagement given the unique issues facing young people today. He is also a keen orator and has excellent interpersonal skills which he regularly puts to use by presenting to local and senior leaders about the criminal justice system and how it can improve its interaction and engagement with young people.
Outside of work, you are most likely to find Jack watching or playing sport, on the ski slopes or spending time with his family following the arrival of his son Max recently.
Lisa Morton – PR and Strategic Relationships
Lisa established Roland Dransfield in 1996, an agency dedicated to creating purposeful relationships and value-driven success throughout the city.
She launched the We Built This City podcast in March 2020, sharing the stories of those who put the heart into modern Manchester. Guests have included Gary Neville, Sacha Lord and Sir Richard Leese. Lisa sits on Sir Richard’s Business Sounding Board, a team of Manchester business leaders who are working on its economic recovery.
She also created the #oneGM initiative to protect those most vulnerable in Greater Manchester, launching it alongside Mayor Andy Burnham and a steering group of Manchester leaders from diverse sectors in the city region.
Abid Hussain – Events and entertainment
Owner of Boom Box Events Management, Abid has worked in the events industry for over 14-years. As an events and entertainment professional Abid specialises in event management and programming, stage management, public relations and marketing.
Abid is known for developing creative event solutions, on time and on budget, and he has successfully delivered annual events including Manchester Mega Mela, Longsight International Festival and Chaand Raat at Longsight Market.
I have no doubt that our new appointments will unleash valuable new perspectives and insights in the boardroom, and I look forward to working together with the whole team in 2021.
