The team is currently busy putting together a fabulous programme of events for 2020.

As always our events are designed with you in mind. We’ve listened to your feedback and this year we are focusing on developing four key areas of activity. This will include:

  • Building the Future, 4 March 2020
  • DMSF Celebrity Golf Day, 1 May 2020
  • DMSF Graduation, 26 June 2020
  • City of Champions Gala Dinner, Autumn 2020 (date tbc)

Building the Future, 4 March 2020

Our ‘careers day with a difference’ provides young people with the practical opportunity to experience different industries. Many of the young people who attend are being educated in Pupil Referral Units, which means they are receiving their education outside of mainstream schools as they struggle to engage with the national curriculum.

These young people can miss out on the opportunity for work experience and can therefore often feel discouraged from seeking employment. The aim of this event is to engage young people with practically based exercises and demonstrations that provide an insight into different industries and raise their career expectations.

DMSF Celebrity Golf Day, 1 May 2020

They say great ideas are created in stunning surroundings. So what better way to inspire innovation than a day away from the desk, and out in the great outdoors, playing alongside noted sporting professionals!

Join us for an invigorating day of golf in the stunning surroundings of Worsley Park Golf Club, followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner and award ceremony.

You can choose to enter as a team of 4 or a team of 3 with a celebrity team captain. Previous celebrity captains have included professional golfer Alison Nicholas MBE, Ladies European Golf Tour player Sophie Walker, and award winning businesswoman Julia Regis. Last year’s event featured keynote speaker, British 4x400m World Champion athlete Derek Redmond, he’s not too bad at golf either.

The City of Champions gala dinner is a star-studded event that aims to acknowledge and celebrate the success of people in the areas of sport, education and business, who are giving back to the next generation of champions, and who will encourage our young people to reach their full potential everywhere in life.

The City of Champions ‘Hall of Fame 2019’ inductees included British Boxing Legend Ricky Hatton MBE; England Football Captain Stephanie Houghton MBE; and CEO of leading, social-first marketing agency, Social Chain and entrepreneur, Steven Bartlett.

All our events are important fundraisers for the Foundation. We work with young people within the top 20% areas of deprivation, using sport as a vehicle to build character and develop behaviours that are transferable throughout their lives.

All proceeds with help us continue to transform the lives of young people in the North West.
